“We have too many meetings, but things still do not get done.”
This is becoming a common challenge in modern management.
According to Microsoft’s Work Trend Index, 68% of workers say they do not have enough uninterrupted focus time during the workday. Microsoft 365 data also shows that employees spend around 57% of their time communicating through meetings, email, and chat, compared with 43% creating work.
The question is not:
“Should we have meetings?”
The better question is:
“Is this meeting designed to make decisions or simply share information?”
Four questions for an effective meeting
Purpose – Why are we meeting?
People – Who really needs to be there?
Decision – What needs to be decided?
Action – Who will do what, and by when?
A simple rule:
Decision → Owner → Deadline
If a meeting creates no decision, action, or clarity, ask whether the meeting is really necessary.
Effective management is not about having more meetings.
It is about creating the right management rhythm to make decisions faster, clarify actions, and create accountability.
LET Perspective
Good meetings create decisions.
Good management creates execution.
